MUTANTS FROM MARS
*********************************************
M. Whitehead March 1990
This is a Droids-type game wherein you move a
spaceman around on the screen trying to get the
mars mutants to crash into each other and die.
Other mutants will be killed when they run into the
radioactive heap left behind. When they start
to get too close for comfort you can hit the '0'
key and do a random space jump - i.e. you end
up somewhere else on the map but maybe not quite
where you'd like...
A scanner is provided which shows where you are
(the white dot) and the mutants (purple dots)
and rocks/craters (in red). This can sometimes
aid in drawing those dorks out from behind rocks
and craters. In addition, a score is kept of
how many diamonds were found and how many mutants
are still out there. If you like points, get the
diamonds, if you don't give a rip just kill the
mutants and then get out of there!
The game features sound and 16 color graphics.
It uses the BlitBitMap function to draw the
blocks in the rastport. I thought this would be
fast enough so that double-buffering wouldn't be
necessary - but I was wrong. Even so it still
works out pretty well. The sound files (.snd) are
simple 8svx sampled sounds and can be changed if
you like (go ahead, hurt my feelings) and the
brushes (.b) are simple Dpaint brushes. You can
change these too (ouch) if you like but don't change
dimensions too much or else ...boooOOOOOom!
This is a free game, use it or abuse it. If ya
want to leave mail I'm on AmAz BBS in Phoenix, AZ
(602) 843-6574 under "Mark Whitehead". Now to
push on with that triple bitmap program that keeps
blowing out...
